Prices for Agricultural Products

Tike provides two sets of data on the prices for agricultural products: monthly statistics on producer prices and weekly monitoring of EU prices.

Producer Prices for Agricultural Products

The statistics monitor the prices farmers receive for their agricultural products in Finland. Data is presented as both annual and monthly prices. The statistics contain producer prices for the following products:

• milk
• meat
• eggs
• grain, turnip rape and rape
• food potato

The statistics are part of the Official Statistics of Finland (OSF) series and adhere to all of its quality standards. They are based on Finland’s Statistics Act and the Act on Rural Business Statistics.

EU price monitoring

The European Commission collects weekly data from member states on the prices for agricultural products. The data is used by EU market systems. Tike is responsible for price monitoring in Finland and data collection is based on both the European Commission’s and national legislation.

Material is available for the following products:

• beef, pork and lamb prices (delivered to slaughterhouses)
• sold-on piglet purchase prices (from the farm)
• egg sale prices (from packaging plants)
• grain and rapeseed price quotes

Tike uses this material to draw up price monitoring reports that include data on both Finland and other EU countries.
