Farms

Farm statistics consist of two sets of statistics covering farms, famers, labour use on farms and horticultural enterprises, and other forms of business.

Farm Structure (Farm Register)

Farm Structure statistics give an overview of Finnish agriculture by illustrating the structure of farms, ownership and production, as well as the number and age structure of farmers. The data in the statistics are obtained annually from the farm register, which is mainly based on information reported by farmers on aid applications.

The statistics contain the following information:

  •  number of farms
  •  land use
  •  average field areas
  •  production sectors
  •  number and age of farmers

Farm Structure Survey (Agricultural Census 2010)

The Farm Structure Survey provides statistical data on labour force on farms and secondary business activities on farms, for example. The data are collected as a sample through a Farm Structure Survey conducted in all EEA countries every two to three years. The survey is carried out as an Agricultural Census, a more comprehensive study, every 10 years.

The Survey contains the same data in all the countries involved.
