Description

The statistics illustrate the structure of commercial horticultural enterprises, their outdoor and greenhouse production, and their mushroom cultivation.

Content

The statistics contain data on the cultivation areas and harvest yields of horticultural plants grown outdoors and in greenhouses. The numbers and cultivation areas of farms with outdoor or greenhouse cultivation areas are presented by municipality. Data on mushroom cultivation is presented for the whole of Finland.

Categories

The data is presented by Employment and Economic Development Centre. Information on the number and cultivation areas of outdoor and greenhouse enterprises is also available by municipality. 

Data collection and sources

Contact details and cultivation areas are obtained from the Horticultural Register. An annual survey is conducted as a complete enumeration. Data on greenhouse energy consumption and hanging flower baskets is collected every other year.

The statistics are drawn up annually. Data on greenhouse energy consumption and hanging flower baskets is updated every other year

Preparation and publication schedule

The statistics are completed by the end of March in the following year. The publication is available in June.

Data is available from 1984 onwards.
